Let's Talk Activities
The Let's Talk activities have been used successfully as part of community education strategies since 1994. Let's Talk activities provide a way for parents and guardians to assess their own children's knowledge, attitudes and behaviors-focusing on young people's experience with bullying, violence, substance abuse and injury.

Welcome to Let's Talk
Our mission is to create youth-friendly environments that promote safety, health and success in school and community life. We do this by providing resources and skills to key partners that include: parents, students, school staff, health care providers and community residents working with youth.
Addressing Problems and Finding Solutions
Violence, substance abuse and injury are the leading causes of death and disability among young people. Our youth population is at risk for serious injury including drug overdose, motor vehicle crashes, alcohol-related injury, suicide and violence. These injuries impact young people and are very costly in terms of dollars and emotional costs. Addressing and reducing violence, substance abuse and injury requires that families, schools and community leaders work together to support a spectrum of sustainable prevention programs.
Let's Talk provides residents with the resources they need to support environments that are free of violence, substance abuse and injury in schools, homes and neighborhoods. Our Let's Talk website includes special sections for:
- Parents/guardians
- Students
- School Staff
- Healthcare Providers
- Community Members
Building a Citywide Network of Support
Let's Talk promotes family conversations, community dialogue and youth-focused community projects throughout the city. We help parents, children, educators and health care providers talk about important safety and health issues. Let's Talk workshops and other resources provide schools, community groups, businesses and families with the tools to promote safety and health so that young people can achieve success in school and community life. Please contact us to learn how to bring Let's Talk to your community.
