Let's Talk Activities
The Let's Talk activities have been used successfully as part of community education strategies since 1994. Let's Talk activities provide a way for parents and guardians to assess their own children's knowledge, attitudes and behaviors-focusing on young people's experience with bullying, violence, substance abuse and injury.

Supporting Youth-Friendly Communities
Every community has problems with violence, substance abuse and injury. Young people face challenges in the form of car crashes and driving while intoxicated, bullying, teen dating violence, depression, suicide and drug overdose. The safety and health of young people needs to be a number one priority for the whole community. Let's Talk offers adults the opportunity to provide the resources needed to strengthen conversations with youth on today's tough topics. Let's Talk topics range from bullying and drug use to Internet safety. Let's Talk also supports community projects to promote youth safety, health and success.

Bring Let's Talk to your School, Neighborhood, Faith-based organization, Workplace or Home
Let's Talk Trainers recruit parents to attend workshops and to use the Let's Talk activities. Think about places that you visit or belong where other parents might be interested in learning how to talk with their children about health and safety. All types of people can become Let's Talk Trainers. We seek people who care about kids and want to help other parents talk about health and safety issues. Let's Talk Trainers are guides for parents. Trainers lead workshops for parents in the workplace, schools and community.
Become a Let's Talk Trainer
Training is a key part of the Let's Talk program. Trainers provide parent workshops in faith-based organizations, workplaces, schools and the community.
Addressing Problems and Finding Solutions
Violence, substance abuse and injury are the leading causes of death and disability among young people. Creating safer, youth-friendly communities require that families, schools and community leaders work together to support solutions.
There are a wide variety of projects for Santa Fe's families and community members to work on:
- Support Let's Talk workshops for parents and other family programs that promote youth health, safety and success in schools and community life.
- Support programs such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters that provide mentors who can teach health and safety skills.
- Use social networking sites such at Facebook and Twitter to promote public dialogue about youth health and safety.
- Support student-led organizations that focus on youth safety, health and success in school and community life.
- Support school-based and community-based safety and health committees and coalitions that work to identify and prevent problems related to bullying, harassment, violence, substance abuse, behavioral health problems and injury.
