Let's Talk About Social Networking
We have designed our site and lessons so that you can share a page with family member, friend, workmate, neighbor, or cyber-penpal in another country. You can also email pages and bookmark pages. The icons used on Let's Talk include:
Facebook
This icon is a shortcut to post a comment about the current page on your Facebook wall. When you click on it, you will be taken to your Facebook page in a new window with a new post about this site prepared for your approval.
Twitter
This little icon will take you to your Twitter account in a new browser window or tab where a "tweet" about the current page has been started for you.
Email a Friend
If you want to send the page you are looking at to a friend who might be interested in what it has to say then this link is for you. Click on it and you will see a small form for sending your friend a message plus a link to the page.
Favorites (aka Bookmarks)
This handy icon will add the current page to your browser's favorites (also called Bookmarks).
More
There are so many more ways to share content on the web. It seems that the list of available social tools is endless so we have included a few more in an alphabatized pop-up list. If you've never tried them, take a look at Delicious, Digg, and Stumbleupon.

Sharing the Let's Talk message
When we say "spread the word" we are talking about the different ways we can send out messages about youth safety and health to residents. The term "social marketing" is often used to describe traditional ways of advertising that promote messages and "sell" the concept of prevention. This kind of marketing can be used to attract people to meetings, workshops, forums and related events for both community education and community mobilization. Social marketing tools come in many forms: online stores featuring t-shirts with safety messages, promotional commercials at the beginning of movies in theatres or on rented videos and on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. We encourage other ways to explore spreading the Let's Talk message.
The Let's Talk Santa Fe Store
The store is online and offers Let's Talk Santa Fe t-shirts, hats and mugs that advertise Let's Talk and gets neighbors talking about what Let's Talk offers their community.
Let's Talk Santa Fe Facebook site
Social networking sites like Facebook can be extremely effective in sharing information and providing an opportunity for those interested in violence, substance abuse and injury (from county residents to an international community) to share perspectives, success stories, challenges and opportunities for involvement. Let's Talk Santa Fe uses its Facebook page to generate local discussion between both current and former attendees of theLet's Talk workshops trainers and other community members. You can follow Let's Talk Santa Fe on Facebook by searching: Let's Talk Santa Fe. Become a friend on Facebook today.
Twitter is a social networking site that allows users to send short messages and to link to websites in order to promote projects, community awareness and ideas. Twitter posts messages immediately, so users can follow "tweets" (posts) from other users in real time. You can follow the "tweets" of Let's Talk Santa Fe on Twitter by searching: LetsTalkSantaFe.
